In the shadows of Zion Canyon’s red cliffs in Southern Utah, Anne creates her mixed media abstract expressions.  Substantial texture has been an integral part of Anne’s art since childhood—glue and rocks her favorite combination.

Her artistic career began with the teachings from her Potawatomi ancestors,  resulting in handmade rawhide drums and totems with highly realistic animal paintings.

From watercolor to carving soapstone, Anne has investigated traditional and exploratory art forms with internationally known teachers as well as self-taught experiments.

These indigenous traditions now help Anne generate the numerous layers visible in her abstracts, organic materials combined with gels, acrylics, and oils.
Her mixed media art relates her interpretation of the natural surroundings, particularly her local National Parks.

An avid traveler and tour guide, Anne photographs her subjects;  her first step is to explore the spirit and appearance of the subject in a poetic way.  Then with rich artistic value, the image is transformed onto canvas.

Her approach translates the essence of the subject into a language of color with diverse brush and palette strokes.  Typically, the canvases are large scale to more vividly draw the viewer into the subject.

Working with adult students through workshops and master classes allows Anne the opportunity to share her experiences, whether in the studio or in field studies.

Prior to her move from Laguna Beach, CA, in 2004, she exhibited at the annual Sawdust Art Festival as well as nationally juried art shows.

She is represented by Manzanita Trading Co., Springdale, Utah, , Juniper Sky Gallery in Kayenta, Utah, Townley Fine Art, Laguna Beach, Ca., and Johnny Utah in Pacific Heights, Ca. and her work hangs in many private and corporate collections, nationally and internationally.

With her ecologist/zoologist husband, Dr. Allen G. Brown, and a flock of rescue dogs nearby, every painting is a joy to create.
